The Seventh Malaysia Plan: Productivity for Sustainable Development

THIS BOOK contains a selection of papers presented at the national convention on the Seventh Malaysia Plan jointly organised by the Malaysian Economic Association and Yayasan Penang Free School from 5-7 August 1996 in Kuala Lumpur. 
    The strategy underlying the policies in the Seventh Malaysia Plan is one of sustained economic growth through productivity improvement. The papers in this volume discuss the challenges of and critical constraints to, achieving this target. While there is considerable potential for total factor productivity growth, issues such as human resource constrains the current account deficit and the need for sustainable development make the task of maintaining growth that much more challenging.
