The Second Edition of this book addresses two important issues in language testing: the construction and the validation of a test. To start with, this book discusses trends in language testing, the validity and the reliability of a test which are the primary issues of constructing a good test. The pre-testing and the pilot survey conducted by the author in three different countries i.e. United Kingdom, Jordan and Malaysia are discussed in depth in this book. The second part of the book discusses analysis of test items which includes central tendency, dispersion, correlation, reliability and all types of validity including construct validity. To give a clear picture of his presentation, the author uses diagrams, histograms, and scatterplot in the writing of this book. The features of the 2nd edition are firstly, the omitting of the use of Arabic transliterations as the readers are directly supplied with Arabic words. Secondly, in order to help the readers to focus on the main idea of the book, the end notes have been removed from all chapters of this edition. Thirdly, the Standard Error Measurements (SEM) for every scatterplot was seen to be less important and therefore have been removed from this edition.
